Quality
Information System
IEC has a capable, effective Quality Information System (QIS). IEC's
goal is to collect defect data at the point of source. we are able
to do this through QIS terminals installed at manual assembly stations,
which will allow us to identify the process and assembly techniques
that need to be evaluated for improvement.
Continuous
Improvement
IEC's
continuous improvement program has a targeted 2X reduction in dppm
for key processes each year. A Continuous Improvement Team (CIT) through
the use of value stream mapping identifies areas in our process that
need improvement.
Six
Sigma
Six
Sigma, as adopted by IEC, is a customer-focused, well-defined problem
solving methodology supported by a handful of powerful statistical
tools. Continuous improvement is driven by the
execution of carefully selected projects.
The goal of the Six Sigma approach is to take small steps forward
– and no steps back.
IEC
has three Six Sigma Blackbelts on staff. Donald Doody, VP of Operations
and Ronald Pratt, Director of Technology are General Electric trained
and certified Black Belts. Daniel Malarik, Quality Manager is a Kodak
trained and certified Blackbelt.
IEC's
quality initiatives also include Statistical Process Control and a
Yield Prediction Model based on measured process capability.
